 Skeet Team Summer 2009

You are invited to join our newly formed skeet team for 2009. Since this is the first year and we are starting late, the format will be slightly different from the trap team. Shooting will be at Minneapolis Gun Club (MGC) on Wednesday nights starting at ~6:00pm. We will shoot two rounds and you will pay for the rounds and the shells yourself at the club.. Rounds are $5.00 shells are $6.00. You may bring your own shells as long as they are meet NSSA and MGC requirements. You will need a repeating shotgun (semi-auto, double barrel, or pump) with an open choke (cylinder, skeet, or improved cylinder). I'd recommend a 20 or 12 gauge since the shells are cheaper, but a 28 ga. or .410 bore are also acceptable. Number 9 shot preferred but #8 is ok. If shooting the 12 ga. I'd recommend the 1 oz. load.

MGC requires a liability release that must be signed by your parents. I will email it to you. You must have it for the first night of shooting.

First night will be July 1st. We will cover safety, skeet basics, and start shooting. We will shoot every week until the MN state skeet tournament August 21st. You do not have to have skeet experience to join. We will divide up so the new shooters can get extra instruction and the experienced shooters plenty of shooting.

I will add a new skeet page to our existing web site. It will have basic skeet information. Tony Lowe has joined our coaching staff and may be able to write an weekly instruction column.

If you have any questions, please email or call.

Regards,
Kirk King

Check the National Skeet Shooting Association (NSSA) web site or Minnesota Skeet web site to learn more about this fun sport.

Good luck, shoot straight, shoot safe!
